Monday night's show for the 75th Birthday Birthday of the Golden Gate Bridge was one of the most spectacular firework shows in San Fransisco history! Hundreds of thousands of people lined the shores of San Francisco to watch the fireworks spectacular over the Bay. The show consisted of fireworks being shot from barges below the bridge as well as effects shot from the bridge itself. The show even included a cascading 4200 foot long waterfall of light spanning the length of the bridge. Click here to see a listing of the articles and photos from the event.
Pyro hosted a viewing party for clients, operators and friends of the company. It was great being able to spend time with our client's outside of producing their show. We shared good food, good drinks and watched a fantastic show together. Below are some highlights of the event. 2012 Showcase & Operator Seminar
On Saturday, April 28, 2012 Pyro Spectaculars held its annual operator seminar and show case. Every year we bring together our operators and friends of the company for a BBQ picnic and a private fireworks show. This year's showcase was held at Cerritos Park East in the city of Cerritos. The event was attended by over 200 people.
This year's show was a memorial tribute to Natalie Pierzina, a legend in our community. Natalie first started working with Pyro Spectaculars in 1965 and in the decades following became a good friend to many. This show was an opportunity to pay tribute to her memory and remember her legacy.
Cai Guo-Qiang’s Sky Ladder & Mystery Circle
On Saturday, April 7th Cai Guo-Qiang debuted his new show, Sky Ladder, at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). Pyro Spectaculars by Souza was the expert pyrotechnic consultant that helped bring the artist’s vision to life.
Cai Guo-Qiang has a long history of creating innovative and unique art. While some artists use watercolors or oil to paint their vision, Cai uses black powder and fire. The sky is his canvas and black powder is his paint. He has had dozens of shows all over the world. His current show, Sky Ladder, at the MOCA museum in Los Angeles, features a series of three monumental gunpowder drawings. By using pyrotechnics effects Cai creates truly unique art by scorching the canvas. Pyro Spectaculars helped the artist by procuring the materials and helping him paint safely. Click here to see a gallery of the drawings.

When fireworks blast off the Space Needle at 11:59 Friday night, it culminates weeks of work by Seattle's fireworks guru, Ian Gilfillan and his Pyro Spectaculars.
"It's the most-unique structure we do. Everything's unusual," said Gilfillan, standing atop the Space Needle on Thursday while his dozen workers installed the fireworks that will blaze across the sky. "The structure is world-recognized, and safety is a factor working on a structure like this."
And the weather? He glanced up at the clear sky. Couldn't be better.
